Warm-Up Match, But Still A Sigh Of Relief For Rohit & Co.

What a speculating win by the Indian team in Brisbane against Australia in the 1st warm-up match. India won the match by 6 runs, which ensured that their preparation is in the right direction to lift this year T20 World Cup trophy. Recently, BCCI selectors named Md. Shami as the replacement of the leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the mega event. At one time in the game, it seemed that Kangaroos would win the match easily, but the 19th over bowled by Harshal Patel was more soothing to Indian fans than anything else. He finished the 19th over by conceding only 4 runs and a leg bye with two wickets to his name. And rest hope of the kangaroo’s winning the match was ended by Md. Shami. In the last over, Shami hunted 4 wickets by leaking 4 runs and clinching the win from the jaw of Kangaroos by 6 runs.

Earlier in the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first; Rohit Sharma & his opening partner KL Rahul gave a solid start to the team and added 78 runs for the first wicket. Rahul played a blistering knock of 57 runs in just 33 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. But current skipper and former skipper Virat Kohli played some minor knocks and throw their wickets in escalating the run rate. When the innings of the Indian team started faltering, SuryaKumar came as the savior and scored 50 runs in 33 balls. Veteran Dinesh Karthik also played a good finishing knock of 20 runs, helping India to set 186 runs on the board. From Australia, Kane Richardson took 4 wickets, and his teammates Starc, Agar, and Maxwell seized 1-1 wickets each.

In reply, Australia started the game with an intense chase and added 41 for the first wicket. Now the required run rate was sky high, and the skipper Aron Finch was trying hard from one end, but other batters like; Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell didn’t add more runs on the board and went back to the pavilion early. After them, no Kangaroos batsmen scored in double figures. And at last, Australia lost the match in the last over by 6 runs. The skipper played a speculating knock of 76 runs in just 54 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Bhuvneshwar took 3 wickets, whereas Arshdeeep, Harshal, and Chahal grabbed 1-1 wicket each. Md. Shami bowled only one over, hunted 3 Kangaroos batters, and announced his comeback in T20 World Cup 2022.

With such a speculating performance by Indian bowlers in death overs, Indian team management and captain would have taken a sigh of relief just before the start of World Cup.
