VVS Laxman Marks 4 Qualities Which Makes Hardik Pandya As The Player’s Captain

After the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Indian fans and experts are not happy with the way the team played and fans are demanding to remove Rohit Sharma from captaincy. In the recently passed T20 World Cup, India was knocked out of the tournament after getting a humiliating loss against England in the semifinal at Adelaide Oval.

Currently, team India is in New Zealand for a 6-match limited over series, 3 T20I and 3 ODI, starting at Wellington on November 18. For the T20I series Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain and former Indian batter VVS Laxman is the head coach of the side for the tour.

Before the first encounter, Laxman had some strong words about Hardik Pandya’s captain’s role. While speaking about how Pandya is as captain he listed some strong qualities of the all-rounder. Laxman said, “He is a fabulous leader. We have seen what he has done in the IPL. I have spent time with him from Ireland. His presence and work ethic are exemplary. He is a players’ captain and is approachable. Players confide in him. He leads by example.”

As we know, both Hardik Pandya and VVS Laxman served India as the captain and coach’s role on the Ireland tour. The two will try to replicate the same on this New Zealand tour as well.

Talking about the approach in T20 cricket and the past performances of India in the T20 World Cup 2022, Laxman explained,” In T20I cricket, we need to play with freedom and fearlessness and we have such players that can go out and express themselves. The message given to them by the captain and management is that they bat fearlessly but also keep conditions and situations in mind and create strategies accordingly.”
