Hobart Hurricanes has signed Paddy Dooley as a replacement for the Big Bash League 12. Paddy is a left arm spinner who possess same action as the Indian superfast pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
This 25-Years old spinner came into limelight when he impressed everyone on his debut at Gabba in January. In the opening over of that match he just spent 3 runs. In the quota of 4 overs he didn’t bag any wicket and went for 25 runs. His action like a ‘Windmill’ impressed everyone including some greats of the cricket such as Michael Hussey and Michael Vaughan.
During that time Hussey Said,”That will be challenging – if you’ve never seen that before it will take a few balls to get used to that action.”
When asked about his bowling action Dooley said that he was so much impressed with the action of Jasprit Bumrah when India toured Australia during 2018-2019. He stated that he was totally inspired by the Indian pacer how hr bowls.
While talking to 4BC, Dooley said,”He absolutely dominated and like anyone after watching the Test you play backyard cricket and you start imitating all the players.”
He further stated,”I was bowling ‘Bumrah’s’ and then I thought ‘this is actually pretty good for my rhythm’ so I started bowling my offices with it and it worked quite well and just went with that.”
Over the past 5 years he has bagged 155 wickets for Queensland Premier Cricket Club.
