“They Will Again Find It Difficult To Lift The Trophy If They Will Not…………” Nasser Hussain On Team India’s Chances In World Cup

Team India has won 38 matches in a calendar year and still has to play the T20 World cup, and the series against New Zealand and Bangladesh in this calendar year. This year, Men in blue have been mighty in the bilateral T20I series, and it will be interesting to see whether they will be able to dominate the same way, in this year World Cup or they will continue choking in the ICC events.

In 2017, they have dominated every nation in bilateral series of white-ball cricket but when it matters they had choked in that year World Cup as well and were unable to lift the trophy. Same goes with 2014, the Indian team hadn’t qualified for the finals of the T20 World Cup. As well in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, they ended up in the tournament in Super 12 after losing two crucial matches against New Zealand and arch-rival Pakistan.

Talking on the same issue former England captain Nasser Hussain said that Indian’s don’t play with fearless mindset in ICC events and thus they choke at crucial juncture. According to him, Indians do have very powerful squad, and each time they go to any ICC events they were the favourites and this time as well. But to lift the trophy they have to play the fearless brand of cricket otherwise things will be very gloomy for them in this year World Cup as well.

“India’s issues have been ICC events. They have been beating everyone with various players; they have rotated and rested. But the truth is that they have played some timid cricket in world events and almost gone into their shell. They played some fearful cricket in the last World Cup, especially in the powerplays,” Hussain said.

However, speaking on the skipper Rohit Sharma. He said his attacking approach has been a good mindset, and also praised talismanic batter Suryakumar Yadav.

“India has got to keep the hitting potential. Suryakumar Yadav has been in unbelievable form. They are missing two great cricketers Jadeja and Bumrah. They have got to keep the same mindset they had in the bilateral events,” Naseer added.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and two others will join the group after qualifying in the Super 12 stage. Rohit & Co. will start their campaign against arch-rival Pakistan on October 23.
