Their poor performance drew criticism from fans and experts. Reports also suggest that the head coach, Gary Kirsten, was very upset with the players about their fitness and the lack of teamwork.
Kirsten talked to the team when they were out of the T20 World Cup 2024. Reports say he told the players that their fitness wasn’t good enough for international games.
He also said, “Even though they play a lot of cricket, the players don’t know which shot to use at the right time.”
In news from Pakistan, it’s said that Kirsten, who helped India win the ODI World Cup in 2011, was very honest in his opinion about the team after they lost in the T20 tournament.
“Pakistan’s team isn’t really a team. They don’t support each other; everyone is doing their own thing, not working together. I’ve seen many teams, but this one is different,” Kirsten said, according to a report from a senior journalist.
Pakistan beat Ireland in their last group match by three wickets on Sunday. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim each got 3 wickets, which made Ireland score only 106 points. But, Pakistan had trouble scoring too, as they kept losing wickets.
Babar Azam helped them win by scoring 32 points without being dismissed.
