“The Only Word I Can Use….”: Sunil Gavaskar Criticized Head Coach And Skipper On Dropping Kuldeep Yadav

Indian team is on tour to Bangladesh to play two test match series against the host, in which the Indian team has won the opening encounter by 188 runs. Now, the Indian team has dropped the hero of the first test match Kuldeep Yadav. He was the player of the match because of his marvelous performance with the ball; he took eight wickets and scored 40 runs with the bat in the lower order.

But in the second test match, Jaydev Unadkat gets a place in the playing XI as the replacement for Kuldeep Yadav. Jaydev Unadkat is playing his first test match since 2010. After this decision of Indian team management, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the decision the team management and head coach made.

Sunil Gavaskar stated this decision as “unbelievable” and strongly criticized the management’s decision to leave out a man who grabbed eight wickets out of twenty wickets.

“Dropping a Man of the Match is unbelievable. That’s the only word I can use, and it’s a gentle word. I want to use stronger words, but it’s unbelievable that you left out a man of the match, who got eight out of the 20 wickets,” Gavaskar quoted.

Gavaskar further said they could have dropped any spinner if the decision was taken based on the nature of the pitch.

“You have got two other spinners. So surely, one of the other spinners could have been dropped. But this guy, who took eight wickets, should have played today with due respect to what the pitch looks like,” he added.

Kuldeep Yadav made his comeback in the first test match since March 2021. His figure was overwhelming in the first test match; he registered 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second.
