Suryakumar Yadav Out Of Afghanistan T20I Series, This All-rounder Is Also Doubtful Along With Ishan Kishan

Suryakumar Yadav is poised to sit out the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan which will start on January 11. It happened due to an ankle injury that he sustained during the South Africa tour.

A BCCI Source said, “Surya has reported to NCA for rehab work and the Medical Science team as of now has ruled him injured. He won’t be able to play against Afghanistan which starts in three weeks’ time. Since he is unlikely to be selected for Tests, he will possibly play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in February to check his fitness before playing in the IPL.”

There are indications that the chances of Hardik Pandya recovering from his ankle injury currently appear to be unlikely.

”There is no update on Hardik’s fitness status as of now and one can say there remains a big question mark of him being available before the end of IPL,” the source added.

With Suryakumar Yadav out and Hardik Pandya doubtful for the series, BCCI may ask Rohit Sharma to take charge for the upcoming series. Ravindra Jadeja is another option for the captaincy. However, Jadeja will play the five-match test series against England and he will need to take care of his Workload management.

The skipper of the Asian Games team Ruturaj Gaikwad has broken his finger and will be unavailable for the upcoming series.

Not only this, Ishan Kishan may also have taken his name back from the Afghanistan series due to his mental fatigue and in this case, Jitesh Sharma pops up as the wicket-keeper of the side.
