Stalwart Pakistani Cricketer Announces Her Retirement From International Cricket

Pakistan’s Nahida Khan, a pioneer of women’s cricket in the country, has announced her retirement from international cricket. After a career spanning 14 years, Nahida leaves a remarkable legacy as the only female cricketer from Balochistan to represent Pakistan. Her contributions to the national women’s team, both on and off the field, have left an indelible mark on the game and inspired future generations of cricketers. Nahida Khan made her ODI debut in 2009 against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh. She featured in 120 international matches throughout her career, accumulating 2,014 runs and claiming one wicket. Her consistency and resilience as a right-handed batter earned her a prominent place in the national team. Notably, Nahida holds the record for the most catches in an ODI inning, taking four catches in Pakistan’s 94-run victory over Sri Lanka in Dambulla in 2018.

Nahida’s journey in international cricket includes three appearances in the 50-over World Cups (2013, 2017, and 2022) and four T20 World Cups (2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018). These global platforms provided her with opportunities to showcase her skills and contribute to Pakistan’s success on the international stage.
