“Something I noted about Indian bowlers……’ Wasim Akram And Waqar Younis Lashed Out On India Pacers After T20 WC Exit

The humiliating loss of the Indian side against England in the semi-final encounter in the T20 World Cup 2022, raised many questions on Head Coach Rahul Dravid, Skipper Rohit Sharma, and Team selection committee. Joining the criticism trend, former Pakistani legend pacer Wasim Akram pointed out the question on Head Coach and selection committee for selecting the bowlers in the team.

According to him, Indian blowers were bowling with slow pace that’s why they failed to get any breakthroughs and the English batter chased the total without losing any wickets.
Speaking on this issues, he pointed out some serious issues about the Indian young pace battery, he explained Avesh Khan a pacer who consistently bowl with 145kmph while playing with the Delhi Capital franchise and when he went to Lucknow Super Giants franchise he wasn’t able to maintain that pace in his bowling.

“Something I noted about Indian bowlers during Asia Cup. They drop pace post IPL. For instance, Avesh Khan was bowling consistently at 145kmph but after one season of IPL they play the pace drops to 130-135 kmph. So BCCI need to check the reason behind that because he got paid some 12-13 crore Indian money” said Wasim Akram.

He also suggested BCCI to look at their player why this type of issues are happening. This is a serious issue for the men in blue and also suggested that IPL should have a salary cap on young players.

“I think IPL need to have a pay cap for young players so that they understand bhook hoti kya hai, what it feels to be hungry. If I was earning ₹24 crore a month in Pakistan, then I don’t think I will work that hard once my job is done. The culture we come from, hum khud ko dheela chhod dete hai.” he further added.
Another Pakistan’s legend Waqar Younis was also part of that show. He added that coach should always encourage their bowlers to maintain the pace.

“I don’t know exactly why they are dropping pace but when I used to play and then worked as a coach. I always emphasized on bowling quickly. If you are quick then bowl quick, that’s what Wasim and I did throughout our careers. If you have pace, you learn the other bits. But if you slow it down and swing the ball, then somewhere T20 cricket and modern-day coaching is at fault for that. I don’t know what’s being taught in the Indian camp but pace matters.” Wasim Akram said on that pace note.

Indian blower wasn’t so effective on the pitch Australia, although they have improved their performance from the Asia Cup 2022 but team management should think about on this serious note.
