Shaheen in, Fakhar out as Pakistan Disclosed Squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2022.Selection committee provided the well equipped 15 member squad to captain Babar Azam. One of the noticeable omission in this squad is Fakhar Zaman. Out of form Pakistani batter is not included in the main squad but got a place in the travelling reserves. While middle order batter Shan Masood make his comeback after the poor performance of middle order in the Asia Cup.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Wasim Junior have recovered from their injury and selected in the squad. Shaheen is currently in the rehabilitation center for a Knee injury and is expected to join the team on 15th October 2022.

There were lot of talks about the omission of Asif Ali and Iftikar Ahmed from the squad but both players got included in the squad. And it will be interesting to see the approach of Pakistani middle order in the World Cup, as they are sticking with the same bunch of players who have poorly performed in the Asia Cup.

“We have a team that can perform strongly in the T20 World Cup. That’s why we have shown faith and confidence in almost the same players who have been part of the T20I squad post the 2021 World Cup in the UAE. These players have performed well since November 2021, and that’s why we have won nine out of our last 13 T20Is.” said Muhammad Wasim
