Kohli Or KL Rahul, Who Should Open with Rohit Sharma In the T20 World Cup? Parthiv Patel Picks His Best Option

Team India had a bad run in the Asia Cup 2022 where the team was knocked out from the Super 4 round. Many former cricketers felt that the team combination and the imperfection in the playing XI had cost India in the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament.

India played its last match against Afghanistan and the cherry on cake was Virat Kohli’s 71st century for which people waited since 2019. Kohli enjoyed a great time as opener in the absence of Rohit Sharma and sparked the fans with his most awaited ton.

The Indian squad for the T20 World Cup has been announced and former Indian wicket keeper batter Parthiv Patel thinks that Rohit Sharma should open the innings Rohit Sharma in the 8th edition of the T20 World Cup 2022.

While having an interaction with Cricbuzz, the former Wicket-Keeper said,”It’s very clear. If I was clear that Virat Kohli should be opening in Asia Cup, he should be opening in World Cup as well. It just gives the right balance.”

Talking further Parthiv Patel added,”They (Kohli and Rohit Sharma) are two different kinds of players. One goes very aggressive (from the beginning), can hit boundaries, and there is Kohli who finds gaps and creates boundaries. If Rohit and Kohli can play till the first six overs I have no doubt that even in Australian conditions more often than not they will get India to around fifty.”

Talking about the greatness of Kohli, Prathiv said that no one is as successful as Virat Kohli on Australian Soil.
