‘Rohit Sharma Is A Question Mark In T20 Cricket’, Former Cricketer Raises Question On Team India Skipper

For the upcoming 2024 IPL season, the Mumbai Indians have appointed Hardik Pandya as their captain. It happened just after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans where he is coming after two years.

Concerns have surfaced regarding the T20 form of Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians who has won five IPL trophies. In recent seasons, Rohit has encountered difficulties in matching his earlier performances, and despite his established batting skills, his contributions in T20 cricket have not met expectations.

Meanwhile, the former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed his concern regarding the batting of Mumbai Indians and has said that Suryakumar Yadav is the only dependable batter in the Mumbai Indians lineup for the 2024 season.

“Ishan Kishan, from a couple of seasons before MI paid the big bucks… he is in the same kind of form. Tim David is still trying to fill the shoes of Kieron Pollard. On form, one player that you can maybe depend on, the player who you can expect to come good, is Suryakumar Yadav,” said Manjrekar on Hotstar

Sanjay Manjrekar conveyed that Rohit Sharma’s role in T20 cricket appears somewhat uncertain, even though the batsman demonstrated promise with his performances in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Despite his success in the ODI format, there is always a question mark on his T20 participation.

“Rohit Sharma, for me, as a batter, is a question mark in T20 cricket. has shown promise, the way he played in the fifty-over World Cups. But that’s a completely different format when you know you have fifty overs. They bat in that fashion. Bowlers just bowl differently in 50 overs as well,” he added.
