Team India’s star wicketkeeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, is all set to make a return to competitive cricket with the IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant will make a comeback in cricket after surviving a terrified car accident in December 2022 and has been out of action since then.
However, ahead of the upcoming IPL season, the great Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar feels that Rishabh Pant might not perform in the same way he used to do earlier, before the accident.
In his interaction with Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “It’ll be very difficult. But the good thing is that he (Pant) has played some cricket. So he has some practice. To get fluency in batting is a little tough.”
Gavaskar further stated that, “When you talk of a knee injury, the pivoting takes place.
Wicket-keeping is difficult as well, but even in batting, the knee is quite important. So, maybe, in the beginning, we won’t see the real Rishabh Pant that we are used to.”
However, Gavaskar feels that with Rishabh Pant back on the cricket field, there will be a lot of entertainment.
Speaking of the same, Gavaskar said, “To find a wicketkeeper like him who comments from behind the stumps, that’s full-on entertainment because there are a lot of wicketkeepers who would like to disturb your concentration by saying different things.”

“But Rishabh Pant has the ability to say such a thing that whoever he is targeting, they also laugh, and they also enjoy it. But when enjoying it, their concentration goes down a bit, right? The advantage is for his team, then.”
