A very shocking trade discussion is emerging, according to reports. Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel and finisher Ashutosh Sharma could move to Chennai Super Kings, while CSK’s star batter Dewald Brevis and spinner Noor Ahmad could head to Delhi.

Nothing has been finalised yet. However, if these reported talks succeed, the two franchises could complete a major exchange ahead of IPL 2027.

Axar to CSK: A four-player trade on the cards?

The proposed deal would see CSK receive Axar and Ashutosh in exchange for Brevis and Noor. Chennai would therefore be giving up two overseas players to bring in two Indian players.

For CSK, the appeal of this proposal is clear: they could address two areas of their team through one trade. Axar would strengthen their spin-bowling all-rounder options, while Ashutosh could improve their finishing.

Axar could fill the role Jadeja left behind

If CSK manage to bring in Axar, they would get an Indian spin-bowling all-rounder capable of filling the role previously held by Ravindra Jadeja.

With Jadeja getting older and having already left the franchise, Axar could be viewed as an upgraded option for that role at this stage. His arrival would give Chennai a way to rebuild that part of their combination.

Ashutosh could address another concern. CSK have looked weak in the finishing department, and his inclusion could give them a batter suited to that job. That is why getting Axar and Ashutosh together would make this proposed deal particularly attractive for Chennai.

Could this compensate for CSK’s SRH trade?

From CSK’s perspective, their recent trade with Sunrisers Hyderabad looked like a losing deal. Bringing in Axar and a finisher could help compensate for some of that damage.

The key now is whether Chennai can turn these discussions into an agreement. For CSK supporters, a successful deal could feel like an advance Diwali gift. But for now, it remains a reported trade discussion, with the final outcome still to be decided.
