Rishabh pant breaks this elusive record of Adam Gilchrist in the T20 World Cup

Indian cricket player Rishabh Pant, who is a wicketkeeper and batter, set a new record for the most dismissals in one T20 World Cup. This happened during a game against Afghanistan on June 21. The 23-year-old caught three players out in that match, bringing his total to ten dismissals in this year’s T20 tournament.

Consequently, Pant set a record for the highest number of dismissals in one tournament edition, achieving ten dismissals in just four matches. The young player surpassed many famous cricketers like AB de Villiers, Adam Gilchrist, and Kumar Sangakkara, who each have nine dismissals in their records.

The left-handed batsman has been playing exceptionally well, scoring the most runs for India in the competition. He has made 116 runs in four matches, averaging 38.66 runs per match and hitting at a rate of 131.81. He began with an impressive 36 not out (from 26 balls) against Ireland and then scored 42 runs (from 21 balls) against Pakistan.

In the meantime, India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, beginning their super 8 journey with a victory. Choosing to bat first, the Indian team scored a big total of 181/8 within their 20 overs.
