Suryakumar Yadav equals this elusive feat of Virat Kohli in T 20 cricket

India’s talented all-round batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, played exceptionally well on Thursday (June 20) as he led the team’s batting attack against Afghanistan and won the Player of the Match award.

Suryakumar helped the Indian team secure their first victory in the Super Eight stage of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, moving them to the top of Group 1. At 33 years old, Suryakumar scored 53 runs in just 28 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes while batting.

The right-handed batsman came to bat in the seventh over of the match and was responsible for increasing the pace of India’s innings.

Before he could settle into the game, India lost Virat Kohli, leaving them struggling at 62/3 in just 8.3 overs.

Even though they were in a tough situation, the player from Mumbai displayed great determination and played an excellent innings, helping India reach 181 on a pitch that offered challenges for the bowlers.

Suryakumar’s performance allowed him to match Virat Kohli’s record for the most Player of the Match (POTM) awards in T20I cricket. With 15 such awards in his 64 T20I matches, he is expected to surpass Virat’s record soon.
