The franchise owners have submitted a list of overseas players who did not sell at the recent IPL auction to the PCB to ensure their registration against the players draft of Pakistan Super League. For the first time in history, upcoming seasons of PSL and Indian Premier League (IPL) will likely clash with each other next year.
While most of them would like to have a big cheque with the Indian league rather than PSL, there are many renowned names from overseas, including David Warner, Kane Williamson, Adil Rashid, Alex Carey, Keshav Maharaj, Shai Hope, Donovan Ferrara, Daryl Mitchell, Jonny Bairstow, Akeal Hosein who went unsold at the IPL auction.
“Even talking to the agents and boards of these players is what the team owners want PCB to do regarding availability in PSL 2025,” said a source. Apparently inspired by the BCCI’s decision to have the auction for the past season of IPL held abroad, it is now going to do the players’ draft for PSL at either London or Dubai.
Franchise owners met with the PCB officials and discussed the holding of the players draft abroad for 2025’s edition of PSL. The PSL joint committee meeting was held, and the preparation and schedule for the PSL next year was discussed.
“Franchise owners want to have the players draft either in London or Dubai as they believe that it would enhance the image of the league,” last month saw the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was covered by some international sports channels.
