Mustafizur Rahman joins rebel Pakistani league after IPL rejection
Mustafizur Rahman has signed up for the PSL draft ahead of the 2026 tournament edition in Pakistan. The pacer registered for the draft just days after being rejected by the BCCI and KKR franchise to participate in IPL 2026 in India.
It should be mentioned that Mustafizur was picked up by the KKR team during the IPL 2026 auction of late last year for an unthinkable amount of Rs. 9.20 crores. Yet, because of the increasing anti-Indian mood and the attack on Hindu religious minorities in Bangladesh, the BCCI directed KKR to free the senior fast bowler from their squad.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took a strong stand against Mustafizur Rahman’s late IPL 2026 snub by not sending the Bangladesh cricket team to India for next month’s 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The BCB has even applied to the ICC to shift their part of T20 World Cup matches to Sri Lanka.
The Bangladesh government, likewise, suspended the broadcasting of IPL matches in the country, doing so just two months before the IPL 2026 season in India.
However, Mustafizur Rahman is now preparing to enter the PSL 2026 season in Pakistan. The 30-year-old last played in PSL during the 2017-18 edition of the tournament for Lahore Qalandars.
