Lucknow Supergiants registered a 56-run win over Punjab Kings on Friday in the IPL 2023 match. In this match, Lucknow Supergiants scored 257 runs for 5 wickets while batting first at the IS Bindra Cricket Stadium in Mohali.
In response, the Punjab team was reduced to 201 runs in 19.5 overs.
Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan explained why the match was lost and gave a big statement on his team’s poor show.
In this match, captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first. But their bowlers were a complete flop in this match.
After this defeat, Shikhar Dhawan admitted his mistake and said, “We gave many unnecessary runs and had to bear the brunt. I think the strategy of going in with an extra fast bowler proved wrong, while KL Rahul had brought in an extra spinner. I tried to change something, which didn’t work today but never mind. This is a good lesson for us, and now we will return strongly.”
On the other hand, KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Supergiants, looked very happy after this victory. Praising his players, he said, “I am happy that we were able to win this match. From now on, every match will be very important. We took a break after the loss against Gujarat Titans. After that, we came back fresh. We knew how to bat; when you play on such a wicket, you get excited as a batter. The score of 250 runs proves that the way we batted, you know what you want from the game. Just being aware of wickets helps.”
KL Rahul further added, “We always talk about setting the tone initially. We have strong players like Mayer, Stoinis. The think tank mostly thinks, and I try to understand what they are thinking. And if it suits us, we will go ahead with the plan.”
