The costliest player for Punjab Kings this season was Harshal Patel. The bowler all-rounder was released by the RCB franchise before the auction and eventually, he got a bid of INR 11.75 crore from the Punjab-based franchise.
After getting Harshal Patel, PBKS made a strategic move by securing the services of England all-rounder Chris Woakes for Rs 4.2 crore during the IPL 2024 auction. Apart from Harshal and Woakes, the franchise focused on bringing in uncapped Indian players and got them at their respective base prices. This approach reflects a mix of experienced international players and promising local talents to strengthen the PBKS squad for the upcoming IPL season.
In the accelerated round of the IPL 2024 auction, Punjab Kings spent INR 8 crores on South African batter Rilee Rossouw. Notably, Rossouw was released by DC before the auction.
The squad is already filled with some big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, and Jonny Bairstow and the involvement of all the local young talents will make them a strong contender for IPL 2024.
