Not Shami, But This Young Pacer Likely To Replace Jasprit Bumrah In The Remaining T20 Matches Against SA

Due to a back stress fracture, Jasprit Bumrah is almost certain to miss the 2022 T20 World Cup. Back issues have plagued the right-arm pacer for a while, notably in 2022. This year, he missed a lot of games, including the crucial Asia Cup, before returning for the home series against Australia.

Bumrah was rested for the opening game. He was scheduled to lead India’s pace attack against South Africa after playing the previous two games against Kangaroos. He also did not feature in the Proteas’ first match.
PTI reported The senior bowler has been eliminated from the ICC competition. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar were both selected by the BCCI as pace-bowling standbys for the T20 WC, and are now expected to take his spot. The Men in Blue require Bumrah’s replacement for the bilateral series as well because they are hosting South Africa.
According to Cricbuzz, Mohammed Siraj is expected to replace Bumrah. 5 victims have fallen to the right-arm pacer in as many T20Is. His most recent T20I match was earlier this year against Sri Lanka. Siraj isn’t a regular in India’s white-ball teams, despite being selected for the Test team.
Four additional pacers in the T20I team against SA are Umesh Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, and Deepak Chahar. The other three pacers made up the playing XI in the first game as Umesh was benched.
It remains to be seen whether Shami’s inclusion for the second T20I helps Team India or not. Due to COVID-19, the right-arm pacer missed both the opening match against SA and the Australia T20Is. Now that the virus has cleared up, he might soon join the team. On October 2, the second T20I of the series will be played in Guwahati.
