KS Bharat Or Ishan Kishan? Matthew Hayden Names The Wicket-keeper Choice For WTC Final 2023

Rohit Sharma-led team India will face Australia in the World Test Championship Final which is set to start from June 7 at Oval. For this series, some new faces have been added to the squad due to injury concerns of Indian players. Rishabh Pant is not playing in this series as the wicketkeeper is still recovering from the injury. In place of Pant, BCCI has added two options in the name of Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat.

Meanwhile, the former Australian opener Matthew Hayden has named his wicket-keeper choice for the WTC final. According to former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden, India will surely miss the duties of wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant in the upcoming World Test Championship final.

Hayden suggested that the team management should include Ishan Kishan in the World Test Championship final as he possesses a similar aggressive playing style to Rishabh Pant. Hayden believes that Kishan’s ability to play dynamic cricket could infuse the batting lineup with a touch of confidence and charisma and it could help the team to win the WTC final.

As quoted by The Telegraph Online, Hayden said, “One of the big losses to Indian cricket right now is Rishabh Pant. If I was an Indian selector, I certainly go with the more dynamic wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan, he also adds that bit of swagger to the batting lineup and in the fielding unit as well.”

Matthew Hayden has also said that the star of the IPL 2023 edition Shubman Gill will be the next superstar of the Indian Cricket Team. He feels that Gill has the potential to serve the team India for the next 15 years.

“You will see a lot of Shubman Gill for the next 15 years. The foundations behind a good Test cricketer are pretty simple. And Shubman, and KL Rahul before him, fundamentally have fantastic games. So, he’ll be a superstar of any cricket format for a very long time,” he said.

“One of the biggest advantages that Shubman has and he showed this when he was touring Australia is he’s very good off the backfoot as well. So the square of wicket play is excellent. And that’ll stand him in good stead even against the best Test sides in the world,” Hayden added.
