Joe Root Creates History, Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar To Make This Huge Record

Veteran England batter Joe Root set a new record in the first Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar‘s record for the highest runs in Test matches between India and England.

Root achieved this milestone after scoring his tenth run in the innings on the opening day of the Test and it made him the leading run-scorer in Tests between India and England.

In 32 Test matches against England, Tendulkar accumulated 2535 runs with an average of 51.73, featuring 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries. Root has now surpassed Tendulkar’s record, achieving this feat in 26 matches with 46 innings against India, and maintaining an average of over 60 against the men in blue.

Not only this, Joe Root also holds the record for scoring the most number of centuries in India-England Test matches history. The veteran has a total of nine centuries against India.

Root is presently considered the most accomplished batsman for England, achieving the highest run tally for his nation in international cricket. However, when it comes to Test runs, he is only behind the former captain Alastair Cook.

In this match, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bowl first.
