‘I Will Be Happy Even If I Become Five Percent Of MS Dhoni’, Young Indian Batter Huge Praise For Former Captain

The first Test between India and England is going at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad where England has opted to bat first after winning the toss. Two weeks ago, when the BCCI announced the team for the first two Tests, the inclusion of wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel was a surprise for everyone.

Dhruv Jurel, who hails from Uttarpradesh admires the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni a lot and recently he said that he would be happy even if manages to get five percent of what Captain Cool has achieved in his entire career.

Jurel attracted widespread attention with remarkable performances in last year’s IPL playing for Rajasthan Royals, and his exceptional displays in the domestic circuit helped turn his dream into reality.

Jurel has been selected as the third designated wicketkeeper in the squad for the Test series against England. He has openly expressed that Dhoni has been his idol since his childhood.

During the IPL 2023 season, Jurel had the opportunity to interact with Dhoni and receive valuable tips from the legendary wicketkeeper. In an interview with Wisden, Jurel shared that he has been greatly inspired by Dhoni.

“He inspires me a lot,” Jurel says of Dhoni. “When I look at him – what kind of aura he has created in the last 18-20 years it’s untouchable! I want to be like him, not 100 percent – even if I am five percent of MS Dhoni, I am more than happy.”
