Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is confident that Team India has an excellent opportunity to secure two World Championships titles this year. With the World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final against Australia approaching, Ashwin believes that India’s chances of winning both ICC events are high, as the 50-over World Cup will take place in India later this year.
Ashwin acknowledges the nerves surrounding the final against Australia, as it will be the first red-ball fixture of the season for both teams. However, he expressed his excitement about the upcoming clash and the support from Indian fans, mentioning that the demand for passes to watch the finals is unprecedented. He emphasized the significance of the match, considering it one of the biggest he has played recently.
“So many Indians will be coming for the match. For the first time, so many people are asking for passes to come and watch us in the finals. It will be a great year for India since we have a 50-over World Cup after this. We will be aiming for two world titles in the same year. Keep us in your prayers. This will need luck. There is no doubt about that. Both teams are playing their first season match, so that they will be equally nervous.” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
The seasoned campaigner highlighted the team’s excellent preparation and training sessions leading to the final. Ashwin acknowledged both teams’ challenges, with India transitioning from the T20 season and Australia returning from a break. He anticipated the match and how it would unfold, aiming to make amends for India’s previous loss in the inaugural WTC final against New Zealand.
