Rajasthan Royals veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his surprise that the umpires decided to change the ball on their own due to dew during the IPL match against Chennai Super Kings and appealed to maintain balance while looking at both sides in such decisions.
There was a lot of dew during the match played at the Chepauk ground in Chennai on Wednesday night, due to which the umpires themselves changed the ball during the second innings, which surprised Ashwin.
Ravichandran Ashwin stated that he had never seen this before when the umpires changed the ball when there was too much dew.
Ravichandran Ashwin said after the match, “It was surprising that the umpires changed the ball on their own due to dew. This had never happened before, and I was surprised. To be honest, this time, I am a bit surprised by some of the decisions taken on the field in the IPL.”
Ashwin, adjourned as the man of the match, said, “I mean to say that I am surprised because it can have good or bad results. That’That’sI believe you need to strike a little balance.”
Ashwin said, “Our team was bowling, and we did not ask to change the ball, but the umpires changed the ball on their own. I asked the umpire, and he said we could do that. So I hope they can change it whenever there is dew. You can do whatever you want but must set a standard.”

This spinner of Rajasthan Royals said that he is enjoying his game to the fullest. He said, “I thoroughly enjoy bowling and not thinking too much about it. A player like me who bowls at different stages of the match should be prepared to bowl at different lengths, speeds, and directions.”
