Ishan Kishan Impressed Rohit Sharma After 1st Test, Skipper Came With The Golden Words For Wicketkeeper

The current squad of team India is filled with so many young and talented cricketers. The future of team India looks absouletly bright with the young guns and they are making a perfect combination with the experienced cricketers of the team. Shubman Gill has already claimed his place in the team, the other in the line is Ishan Kishan who has done well whenever got a chance.

Ishan Kishan made his Test debut for India in the first Test match against West Indies. However, he didn’t get much opportunity to showcase his batting skills, as he remained unbeaten at one run when the Indian team opted to declare their innings.

However, the player impressed everyone with his wicket-keeping skills. He did an appreciable job behind the stumps and for this skipper Rohit Sharma has lauded him very much. Rohit also said that Ishan Kishan has the green signal from the management to play with full freedom and behave naturally with his skills.

According to Hindustan times, Rohit Sharma said,”Ishan is a very talented player. We have seen it in the short career that he has had for India. He scored a double hundred in limited overs. He has the game, we have the responsibility to chisel that talent. We have to give him opportunities. He is a left-handed batter. He likes playing aggressive cricket. I have had clear discussions with him, I have explained to him how the team management wants him to play. He has been given freedom. He has the game, he needs the freedom and we will give him the opportunity.”

Rohit Sharma also appreciated the kind of wicket-keeping Ishan performed in the first match. He was absolutely accurate with his gloves and missed no chances behind the stumps.

“I would like to speak specifically about his wicket-keeping. He kept really, really well considering he played his first Test and to keep against Ashwin and Jadeja where the ball is turning and bouncing and some balls keeping low as well… I was very impressed with his keeping skills. Unfortunately, he got to score just one run as we had to declare. We want our top-order batters bat long. If the opportunity comes (to bat long), he (Ishan) is raring to go,” Rohit added.
