Irfan Pathan Gave A Big Statement After Rinku Singh Was Ignored From West-Indies T20 Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday, July 5, a 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies. Notably, Rinku Singh didn’t get a call-up from the national team despite performing well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have been left out of the squad for the upcoming series as the selectors have chosen to persist with younger players. Hardik Pandya, the talented all-rounder, will lead the squad in the shorter format, with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy.

However, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan expressed dissatisfaction with the exclusion of Rinku Singh from the squad on Twitter. Pathan believes that Rinku Singh’s time will come soon and that he deserves a place in the team.

“Rinku Singh’s time will come sooner….” Irfan Pathan tweeted.

Rinku Singh showcased his skills in the last edition of the IPL, where he emerged as one of the standout performers. The left-handed batsman scored an impressive 474 runs with an average of 59.25 and a strike rate 149.52. He excelled in the role of a finisher, consistently delivering under pressure.

Playing mostly at No. 5 or below for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Singh impressed with his ability to finish matches throughout the tournament. A notable example was when he smashed five sixes in the final over against the Gujarat Titans (GT), leading his team to victory. While Singh may have missed out on the current squad, his impressive performances in the IPL have garnered attention, and he will likely get his chance in the national team.
