England’s star wicketkeeper-batsman, Johnny Bairstow, is all set to play for the Punjab Kings in the entire IPL season. Johnny Bairstow is currently at home after the completion of the test series against India.
On the other hand, BCCI was in talks with England’s cricket board over their player’s availability in the IPL. Many players like Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, and Joe Root have already pulled out of the IPL due to various reasons.
Talking about Johnny Bairstow, an IPL source said, “Bairstow is expected to arrive in India on March 18 or 19 and will be available for the team’s first game against the Delhi Capitals on March 23.”
Bairstow recently played his 100th test match for England but had not been in the best of his form in the entire series against India.
Apart from this Punjab Kings have named batting coach Sanjay Bangar as the director of cricket for this upcoming season because of Wasim Jaffer parting ways with Punjab Kings. Sanjay Bangar earlier worked with the Royal Challengers Bangalore as the batting coach. He was also the batting coach of Team India.
Punjab’s head coach, Trevor Bayliss, is all set to terminate after this season. It will be interesting to see whether he continues to be with the franchise or not.
