IPL 2024: Huge Update On Jasprit Bumrah And Suryakumar Yadav’s Availability For Mumbai Indians First Game vs GT, One Player To Miss The Match

Jasprit Bumrah has not yet joined the Mumbai Indians camp, but he is expected to join the team in Ahmedabad, where they will play their IPL 2024 opener against Gujarat Titans on March 21. Bumrah has been on a break since participating in the fifth India-England Test in Dharamsala, which concluded on March 9. Despite his absence from the camp, Bumrah is in good physical condition and will be available for Mumbai Indians for the opening match.

“Yes, Jasprit Bumrah will join the team directly in Ahmedabad on March 21. He will have good three days of practice there before the first match vs Gujarat Titans on March 24,” added a source close to developments.

The pre-season camp for MI commenced in Mumbai on March 12, with the majority of players and support staff present since then. Former captain Rohit Sharma joined the camp on March 18. However, there is uncertainty regarding the availability of Suryakumar Yadav and when he will be able to join the team.

It is known that the 33-year-old underwent a fitness evaluation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on Tuesday, but unfortunately, he did not meet the required standards to obtain clearance. It is expected that he will undergo another evaluation in a few days, and both the NCA and MI are likely to adopt a cautious approach to managing his fitness.

Suryakumar Yadav has been undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA after sports hernia surgery performed in Munich in January. He sustained an ankle injury during the third India-South Africa T20I in Johannesburg on December 14. Consequently, he has been sidelined from action since then.
