Breaking News: T-20 Series Against Afganistan Gets Postponed By Australia Due To This Reason

Cricket Australia has postponed the T20 series, consisting of three matches against Afghanistan. The series was scheduled to take place in the month of August.

The major reason for Australia’s withdrawal from the series was the condition of the girls, which is getting worse in the country.

Since the Taliban came into power in Afghanistan, it has imposed a lot of restrictions on girls, like going to school or college, and even stopped girls from working.

Well, this is not the first time Australia has withdrawn from the series against Afghanistan. In 2021, Australia will withdraw from playing a test against Afghanistan in Hobart. The Australian team also postponed a three-match one-day series in the UAE.

In the official statement from Cricket Australia, it is said, “Over the past twelve months, CA has continued to consult with the Australian Government on the situation in Afghanistan. The government’s advice is that conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan are getting worse.”

The statement further added, “For this reason, we have maintained our previous position and will postpone the bilateral series against Afghanistan.”

Afganistan was the only team in the under-19 women’s world cup that did not participate, as girls in Afganistan have been banned from playing the sport.

The statement further added, “We will continue to actively engage the International Cricket Council and work closely with the Afghanistan Cricket Board to determine what actions could be taken to support the resumption of bilateral matches in the future.”
