The first edition of WPL has started with bang. The Mumbai vs Gujarat Match and the Delhi Capitals vs Bangalore Match saw some sensational batting display by the women cricketers. The fans are now eagerly waiting for the Indian Premier League, which will start on 31st March.
Now this T20 league has come with some changes in rules. For the first time, now a team can review for the wide ball and no-ball by DRS if they anticipate it has been wrongly judged by the umpire. The ongoing Women’s Premier League is the first T20 league where this rule was implemented and the men’s tournament will follow the same rules from the upcoming 31st March.
“A player may request a review of any decision taken by the on-field umpires concerning whether or not a batter is dismissed, with the exception of ‘Timed Out’ (Player Review),” the WPL playing conditions said in a release.
“A player may also be allowed to review any decision taken by on-field umpires concerning wide or no-ball,” it added.
This rule of reviewing wide and no-ball has been already used in the very first match of the WPL where Mumbai and Gujarat clashed with each other. Saika Ishaque delivered a ball which was termed as wide by the umpire but it was later altered after the team had their DRS.
The IPL will start on 31st March where the defending champion Gujarat Titans will take against the four time champion Chennai Super Kings.
