After Retirement, This South African Batting Veteran Batter To Make His Comeback To International Cricket

According to reports, the veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis is all set to join the national team’s white-ball squad.. In 2021, the star hitter announced his retirement from international cricket. He however continues to play in the T20 format for a number of franchises across the globe.

Du Plessis played his last white ball game during a T20 match against England back in 2020. Talking about his last ODI venture, it was against the mighty Australians in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

A report in Rapport Newspaper suggests that the batter has met South Africa’s new coach, Rob Walter. Walter will head the team in T20 and ODI. Shukri Conrad will oversee their red-ball setup. On Monday, March 6, South Africa will announce his first T20 team for the series against the West Indies.

Due to his outstanding performance in the inaugural SA20 2023, Du Plessis’ chances of rejoining the team looks very much accessible. The Johannesburg Super Kings, which was coached by Stephen Fleming, was led by the 38-year-old as captain. In the most recent SA20, he scored 369 runs at an average of 41.0 and a strike rate of 147.60.

Few days back Faf Du Plessis gave a statement while talking to Wisden. He said that he is looking to talk to the new coach Walter regarding his homecoming.
