IPL 2023: ‘Mumbai Indians Don’t See Me As Youngster Or Newcomer, They Always See Me As…’, MI Young Star On Team’s Management

The five-time champions Mumbai Indians do not have a good start in the IPL 2023. The team lost the first 2 games and seemed that they will have to suffer this year in this cash-rich league. However, Rohit Sharma and the company made a strong comeback and won the next three games.

Although Mumbai’s performance in the current season of the IPL has been full of twists one thing that has remained consistent is the impressive performance of Indian batter Tilak Varma. The 20-year-old made his debut in the IPL in 2022 and has continued his excellent form in this season as well. Varma has scored 214 runs in five games and it has been crucial for Mumbai’s journey in the tournament.

Tilak Varma recently spoke about his development as a player and thanked the management of Mumbai Indians for his growth. Varma credited the team’s management for creating an environment where he never felt like a new player and he got the same stature as others.

While talking to the press after the match against SRH, Tilak Varma said, “The first season (2022), I was a youngster, but since then, I always had the team back me. They don’t see me as a youngster or a newcomer to the team. They always help me mature as a player. So it was pretty easy for me to manage, unlike the first year.”

He further added,”The team (Mumbai Indians) treat me in a way that I never feel like I’m playing the IPL or any other tournament for the first time. Being amongst the God of Cricket (Sachin Tendulkar), the Indian captain (Rohit Sharma) and everyone, I feel confident and comfortable with them.”

Tilak Varma also discussed the valuable guidance he received from Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. Varma revealed that Tendulkar has given him useful tips on how to approach different situations in a match. While praising Rohit, Verma said that the current captain of the Mumbai Indians has provided him with valuable advice on how to handle pressure and maintain a calm mindset while batting.

“Sachin sir told me to have a clear mindset, whether you score runs or not. Rohit sir said, put a smile on your face and give your 100 percent into what you are doing, then the rest will all go fine,” Varma said.
