IPL 2023: ‘MS Dhoni Does Not Play Cricket Any More And…’, Scott Styris Talks About The Batting Position Of Captain Cool

Chennai Super Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants in their second match of the IPL 2023 season. The team lost the first match against Gujarat Titans and now they will be looking to gain momentum with a win against LSG.

The former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris Zealand has suggested that the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team, MS Dhoni should bring him up in the batting order in the game against Lucknow.

Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the batting for CSK and scored 92 runs in the match against Gujarat Titans. In the same match, MS Dhoni batted at No.8 and scored 14 runs off seven deliveries, which included a boundary and a six in the final over bowled by Joshua Little.

While previewing the match between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on Jio Cinema, Scott Styris suggested that MS Dhoni should consider batting higher up in the CSK batting order than Shivam Dube, who usually bats at No.6.

Styris said, “He (MS Dhoni) doesn’t play a lot of cricket anymore. He came in straight after Jadeja and we know how good Jadeja has been in the international scene for India. In the next game being the home game, I expect Dhoni to come in front of someone like Shivam Dube.”

Scott Styris also commented that the opening batsmen of Chennai Super Kings need to perform well to set the tone for the rest of the batters.

“They have a lot of talent. That’s where the strength of the CSK side is – it’s in their batting. They need a good start from Ruturaj and Devon Conway. I think they will get the start that allows the rest of the batting unit to be aggressive.”
