In a thrilling high-scoring match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians clinched a six-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals which kept their hopes of reaching the IPL 2023 playoffs alive.
Royals began strongly in the first innings where Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a remarkable 124 runs off just 62 balls. His outstanding performance also earned him the Orange Cap.
While talking to Jio Cinema, the former Indian batter Robin Uthappa appreciated the batting of Yashasvi Jaiswal and claimed him as the “next superstar” of team India.
“He’s one of the next superstars of Indian cricket. He has shown his intent from the word go. He is fearless batting and going out there, and he is very brave with the way he approaches it. He’s put in all the work this season and the hard work is finally paying off. Sixteen fours tonight and some scintillating sixes” said Uthappa.
In this match, Rajasthan Royals put a target of 213 runs for Mumbai Indians which they got in 19.3 overs. For Mumbai, first Suryakumar Yadav scored 55 runs off 29 balls, and then Tim David got a fiery 45 in just 14 balls. David smashed three consecutive sixes against Jason Holder to seal the match for the team.
Former Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel who is also a member of the Jio Cinema expert panel praised the sensational batting of David.
Parthiv said,”He can perform under pressure and help them win matches. The role of a finisher is extremely important, especially when you are chasing a massive total. You need a big innings in the lower order with a strong strike rate and Tim David is doing that. Under pressure, a bowler knows that Tim David has the reach and strength to punish you for any mistakes. He can hit a boundary or a six, as we saw today.”
