IPL 2023: Big Blow For LSG, Star Bowler Ruled Out Of The Entire Tournament; Also Doubtful For WTC Final

After the injury of captain KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants has got another huge blow. The experienced left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat who was part of LSG for this edition has been ruled out from the IPL. Unadkat was also part of the Indian squad going for the WTC finale starting on June 7.

The reports suggest that Unadkat got a shoulder injury while practicing in nets on Sunday. Unadkat suffered a fall during his bowling practice in the nets on Sunday. He was running in from the non-striker’s end when his left foot got entangled in the net’s rope causing him to trip and fall on his elbow which clutched his left shoulder. He was later spotted with an ice pack on his shoulder and his arm indicating a possible injury.

Unadkat will now go for medical treatment and will try to recover in time. According to reports, Unadkat went to Mumbai for scans and consulted with a specialist appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). After discussions with the BCCI’s medical staff, the Super Giants team decided to drop Unadkat from IPL. Unadkat is reportedly expected to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation to recover in time for the World Test Championship final against Australia.

Unadkat is part of India’s squad which consists of five pacers including Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur, for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia.

In this IPL, Unadkat has played three games for Lucknow but did not able to get wickets. He has bowled eight overs in this edition spending 92 runs.
