IND vs SA, T20I 2022: Surya-Kohli Breaks 6-Years Old Record Of MS Dhoni -KL Rahul

At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Sunday, middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav and former Indian captain Virat Kohli led Team India to a historic series victory over Temba Bavuma’s South Africa. Premier batsmen Suryakumar and Kohli played significant roles for the Rohit Sharma-led team as the hosts recorded a huge total in the 20-over match in Guwahati, turning the series-deciding match between Team India and the Proteas into a high-scoring contest.

The partnership of Kohli and Suryakumar also broke the astounding record for partnerships in the shortest version of the game formerly held by MS Dhoni and KL Rahul. In the second T20I, star batsman Suryakumar teamed up with an on-form Kohli, and the two batsmen set a record-breaking 100-run partnership in Guwahati. In the shortest format of the game, Kohli and Suryakumar put on Team India’s fastest 100-plus run stand (measured by run rate).In the second Twenty20 International between India and South Africa, both the batters recorded a startling run rate of 14.57 as the pair piled up 102 runs in 42 balls. Dhoni and Rahul, who combined for a 107-run stand in 49 balls (13.10 run rate) against the West Indies in 2016, have been topped by Kohli and Suryakumar. In the shortest format, opener Rahul and captain Rohit Sharma struck 165 off 76 balls (13.02 run rate), which ranks as India’s third-fastest 100-plus century partnership.

In the high-scoring thriller at Guwahati, India’s standout batter Suryakumar scored the most runs for his team, hitting 61 off 22 balls. To assist India to reach 237-3 in 20 overs, former Indian captain Kohli continued to bat undefeated at 49 off 28 balls. South Africa responded by mounting a comeback despite losing the match by 16 runs thanks to David Miller (106) and Quinton de Kock (69). India has won its first-ever home series victory over the Proteas in the game’s shortest format with the victory in the second T20I.
