India and Australia will face each other in the third and final match of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday, September 27. Yadav has already sealed the series winning the first two matches played in Mohali and Rajkot respectively. For this third ODI, many senior players will mark their return. Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav will join the team for the last match.
Leading up to the commencement of the third ODI, the Indian team has been affected by a viral illness, and a few players have opted to head back home. Not only this, five players will be unavailable for the final match and management will make their playing XI among 13 players who are available for the selection.
“We have got a lot of players who are sick and not available, a lot of players have personal problems so they have gone home and a few of the guys have been rested as well. Obviously, Gill has been rested, and Shami, Hardik, and Shardul have all gone home…again, personal things. Axar, obviously, is not available for this game,” Rohit was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Rohit Sharma said that it is fine to take some leave and stay at home. With this, the player will come with a fresh mind before the 2023 ODI World Cup.
“There is a bit of viral going around in the team as well. So, there is a lot of uncertainty in the team at this point in time which we cannot help. Looking at the next few weeks it is quite important for us to look after the players and their well-being. So, it is okay for them to be at home at this point — the reason being we want everybody to be fresh during the World Cup and hopefully, they can come back fresh,” he added.

India will play their first match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
