Match No.10 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 was played between Namibia and United Arab Emirates on 20 October, Thursday in Geelong. UAE won the toss and scored 148 runs at the loss of only 3 wickets. Muhammed Waseem scored a half-century and took 1 wicket in the match. Namibia fought valiantly but fell short by 7 runs.
UAE won the toss and opted to bat first. UAE was put under pressure by Namibian bowlers. But UAE saved wickets thanks to patient innings by Muhammed Waseem. He scored 50 runs in 41 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes. Rizwan finished the innings to put up a respectable total. He made 43 runs in 29 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
For Namibia, Every bowler bowled economically but was unable to pick wickets. David Wiese, Scholtz, and Shikongo took 1 wicket each.
Namibia entered confidently in the second innings as they were the stronger side. This was a do-or-die match for Namibia for their qualification. Pressure and disciplined bowling from UAE bowlers got the better of the Namibian batting lineup. No batter could settle on the pitch and batting collapsed in the 13th over only at 69 runs. At the David Wiese tried to fight but failed. He scored 55 runs in the process.
Every UAE bowler contributed to the win. Basil Hameed and Zahoor Khan took 2 wickets each.
Muhammed Waseem was awarded Player of the match for his fighting 50.
