I Think Three spinners too many….’: Bharat Arun Pointed Out Young Pacer’s absence in India’s T20 World Cup squad

The eyes of Every Indian fans are on Rohit & Co., hoping they will end the drought for the ICC trophy this time. However, the Indian team had faced a major blows due to injuries just before T20 World Cup in the form of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, and veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Currently, before the mega event, the men in blue started their warm up on Aussie soil and played two practice matches against Western Australia, where they leveled the series by 1-1.
After the loss of leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah, everyone started expecting Umran Malik in the in the T20 World Cup squad as he provides extra pace and thus would have brought much needed variation in the bowling attack, and Indian team could have used him, if required.

Umran’s performance in the IPL was terrific. He has shown his pace in the IPL, that is considered lethal on the Australian track.
However, selectors didn’t picked him as a part of the team. Speaking on the Indian bowlers, former bowling Coach Baharat Arun said the current squad of the Indian team is packed but considering three spinners on the Australian pitch is more than enough, if they would have picked Umran Malik in the team, it would have been great.

“Umran Malik is exciting, and he’s got the pace. And given the right fields, he’s done pretty well in the IPL. Considering Australia’s wickets, I feel India has carried far too many spinners. Somebody like Umran Malik would have been a great fill-up for the team,” said Arun.

“Yes, there is bounce, the grounds are big spinners have a significant role in Australia, but I think three spinners are too many. Because at any given point, you would be playing just one spinner in the team, and you have the choice of two spinners in the side. Three spinners are too many. That’s why I said Umran Malik instead of one spinner would have been a sage move,” he said.

Indian team is set to play their opening encounter of this mega event against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 23rd of October at MCG.
