“I feel Australia hasn’t yet played…” Salman Butt Believes Australia Yet to Unleash Full Potential In Ashes 2023

Salman Butt, former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, believes that Australia has not yet played to their full potential in the ongoing Ashes series and the World Test Championship final. Despite their star batters, such as David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith, failing to perform at their best, Australia managed to secure crucial victories.

According to Butt, once Australia hits their stride and starts playing to their full potential, they will win matches by larger margins. In a video on his YouTube channel, Butt expressed his views on Australia’s current performance.

Butt noted that Australia won the World Test Championship final and the first Ashes Test against England without showcasing their best cricket. He pointed out that certain key players, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne, were yet to deliver standout performances. Cummins was slightly expensive in conceding runs, Hazlewood was not at his peak form, and the batting contributions from Smith and Labuschagne were underwhelming. Despite this, Australia secured victories with noteworthy performances from Usman Khawaja, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, and Travis Head, who all made valuable contributions.

“I feel Australia hasn’t yet played their best cricket. Without playing to their full potential, they won the World Test Championship final and now the first Ashes Test, beating two good teams. If they come into their own and start playing to their potential, they will start winning by bigger margins,” the 38-year-old said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Pat Cummins leaked runs at 4.5 per over. Hazlewood bowled well but not at his complete best. Even in the batting department, Smith and Labuschagne didn’t fire. They are getting runs from Khawaja, Alex Carey, and a bit from Green and Head, too, scoring a fifty. But it feels the big performance hasn’t come yet from them, and yet they have won.” Butt further added.

Salman Butt believes that the team will achieve even more convincing victories once Australia’s key players hit their stride and start performing to their full potential. He expects larger winning margins in future matches based on Australia’s talent and their ability to step up when needed. Butt highlights that their victories so far have come without the team playing their absolute best, indicating the potential for even greater success.
