Attempt To Illegally Occupy Sourav Ganguly’s Land, Threatened The Security, Police Initiate Investigation

Former Indian cricket team captain and ex-president of the BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, is accused of illegally occupying his land in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The West Bengal Police have taken action in response to a complaint filed by Ganguly’s assistant, Tania Bhattacharya. On the other hand, the accused claims to be a victim of false allegations, stating that a fabricated case has been orchestrated against him for opposing unethical practices. Sourav Ganguly has not yet made a statement regarding the issue.

Tania Bhattacharya, Sourav Ganguly’s assistant, complained of illegal land occupation in South 24 Parganas, Bengal. According to the complaint, the accused and his associates attempted to gain access to the land by breaking the lock. Their intention, as alleged, is to utilize the land for nefarious activities.

The complaint further asserts that security personnel at the site were assaulted when they tried to prevent these individuals from entering. Tania Bhattacharya also mentioned in the complaint that the land was designated for constructing a school, which the accused is allegedly trying to seize. Additionally, the security personnel deployed to protect the land have reported receiving threatening phone calls.

Based on the filed complaint, the police have registered a case and summoned the accused for questioning. The evidence includes a recorded phone call of Supriyo Bhowmick, who is implicated in the complaint, threatening the complainant’s associates. It is also mentioned in the complaint that the accused previously trespassed on the land, along with his friends, by cutting through a window. Reports indicate that the accused has been interrogated on prior occasions as well. The police will proceed with further action following the interrogation process.

According to media reports, Sourav Ganguly intends to establish a cricket school (academy) on the disputed land. Several cricketers in the country run their cricket schools, and Ganguly aims to contribute to developing aspiring cricketers through his academy.
