Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly Wishes To See Hardik Pandya Back In India’s Test Team

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain, wants to see all-rounder Hardik Pandya back in India’s Test team soon. Ganguly believes that Pandya’s skills make him a great fit for the red-ball format, particularly in conditions like England.

Speaking to Sports Today, Ganguly conveyed his wish for Pandya to return to Test cricket. The former captain highlighted that India has a pool of talented players who can contribute to the Test side, and he sees Pandya as a valuable addition, especially in challenging conditions.

Ganguly made these remarks while speaking to Sports Today. He said, “I hope Hardik Pandya is listening. I want to see him play Test cricket, especially in these conditions.”

Hardik Pandya has established himself as an all-format player for India. He has played 11 Test matches and has accumulated 532 runs, including one century and five fifties. He has also taken 17 wickets, including a five-wicket haul against England. However, Pandya has faced injury concerns recently, and it remains to be seen when he will return to the Test arena.

Ganguly also advised against panicking after India defeated Australia in the final ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023). He urged not to draw hasty conclusions and stated that India has abundant talent. Ganguly emphasized that it is not yet time to look beyond senior batsmen like Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, noting that Kohli is only 34 years old.

India suffered a significant 209-run loss to Australia in the WTC 2023 final led by Rohit Sharma. Cheteshwar Pujara struggled with batting, registering scores of 14 and 27 in both innings. Virat Kohli showcased a promising knock of 49 runs in the second innings but could not convert it into a substantial score.

As the Indian team evaluates its performance and plans for future Test matches, including Hardik Pandya and the roles of senior players like Kohli and Pujara will continue to be discussion topics among fans, experts, and the team management.
