‘England will thrash India like Australia did in..’ Harbhajan Singh Warned Captain Rohit Ahead Of Second Test

The Indian cricket team’s recent struggles have certainly raised concerns among fans and cricket pundits. Despite a strong lead in the first innings, they suffered an humiliating loss in the second Test. The absence of key players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja has further weakened the team’s lineup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) responded to these challenges by adding Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar to the squad for the upcoming match. Sarfaraz Khan’s inclusion, in particular, garnered attention and praise due to his impressive domestic record.

However, legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh expressed concerns about the team’s batting lineup and the potential consequences of preparing a turning pitch against England. Indian off spinner pointed out the lack of experience beyond Rohit Sharma, with R Ashwin emerging as the second-highest run-scorer for India. He indirectly criticized players like Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, pointing out the need for a stronger batting performance.

“The team seems alright, but it’s lacking in experience. Sure, there’s Rohit Sharma, but after him, the next highest run-scorer is Ashwin. The batting lineup appears to be on the weaker side. Additionally, considering they’ve included Washington Sundar and have Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin, and Axar Patel, it suggests they might opt for a turning track,” he explained.

He also feared a repeat of the ICC 2023 World Cup final, where the pitch plan backfired for India. Similarly, in the first game, the turning track turned out to be favourable for England.

“I worry that India might suffer a loss similar to the one in World Cup final if they prepare a turning pitch against England. The batting lineup is young and requires time to develop. However, if they play on a good track, they might show promising performances,” he added.

Singh also highlighted the significance of Sarfaraz Khan’s opportunity in the series, acknowledging his consistent run-scoring in domestic cricket. He emphasized the importance for Khan to seize this chance and prove his worth in the team, especially considering the competition for places once regular players like Virat Kohli return.

“Sarafaraz’s name has been in discussions for a while, and now he has finally been given the opportunity. He has been consistently scoring runs and has earned his selection. He must seize this chance fully. If he fails to perform, he may have to step aside for Virat Kohli.”

India’s updated squad for the 2nd Test against England.
