The Asia Cup 2025 is set to be conducted in the T20 format. After the previous edition held in Sri Lanka, which served as preparation for the ODI World Cup 2023, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has opted for the T20 format to enhance readiness for the T20 World Cup 2026.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, The location and format for the Asia Cup 2025 will be determined during the upcoming Annual General Meetings of the ACC.

The AGMs are scheduled to take place in two days in Bali, Indonesia. Currently, the United Arab Emirates and Oman are in contention to host the Asia Cup 2025. If accurate, this would mark the fifth occasion that the United Arab Emirates hosts the Asia Cup, whereas Oman aims to secure the rights for the event for the first time.

Asia Cup was first played in 1984 in ODI format and it was hosted by UAE. The tournament has been mostly hosted by prime Asian cricket nations such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
