After India conducted strikes during Operation Sindoor, the English players in the Pakistan Super League were reportedly considering departure out of Pakistan. It was in response to terror attacks in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. The Pakistan Cricket Board, on the other hand, has maintained that they shall continue to organize PSL matches in Pakistan regardless of the growing tensions between the two countries.
With the situation potentially worsening, the English players must make a decision on what to do next. Presently, there are seven England players in the Pakistan Super League: Sam Billings, James Vince, Tom Curran, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Luke Wood. Willey and Jordan have reportedly told the Multan Sultans that they want to head back home as their team is already out of the playoffs, and there remains one game to be played.
The England and Wales Cricket Board and the Professional Cricketers Association have remained in touch with the players but have yet to tell them to leave. However, this might change if the UK government puts out a travel advisory. India struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting only terrorist sites linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, with precautions taken to avoid civilian casualties, on the dawn of May 7, as a retaliatory strike against the deadly attack in Pahalgam.
