“Ek 601 to Dubai…”Wasim Akram takes a dig on Pakistan after their poor performance in the World Cup

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram made a comment about the Pakistan team’s plans after they were knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024. The team didn’t make it past the Group stage. Bad weather in Lauderhill, Florida, led to Ireland and the USA sharing points. This result allowed the USA to make history by reaching the Super 8 stage in their first-ever T20 World Cup appearance.

Akram praised the USA team for advancing to the next round of the big tournament and securing a spot in the T20 World Cup 2026. He also made a sarcastic comment about the Pakistan team, suggesting that they should just go back home. Pakistan’s poor performance in the tournament ended quickly, partly due to the bad weather in Florida.

“Yes, definitely. Congrats to Team USA. They’ve done really well in spreading the game worldwide. This is a big deal, USA making it to the Super Eights. They earned their spot. They even beat Pakistan in an earlier match. As for Pakistan, maybe their next plan should be flight EK 601 to Dubai and then to their home cities. We’ll see what happens after that,” Akram said in a video shared by the ICC on their social media.

Pakistan has only won one game in the tournament, which was against Canada. They are scheduled to play against Ireland in a Group A match on June 16, Sunday, in Lauderhill, Florida. But, there are warnings about flash floods and rainy weather, which could prevent the game from taking place. Some former Pakistani players are criticizing captain Babar Azam for his personal performance and the team’s overall results. This is the earliest Pakistan has ever been eliminated from a T20 World Cup, as they were knocked out after just three games.
