Delhi Capitals set to target this Star batter in IPL 2026 auction know the reason why

The Delhi Capitals (DC) sister franchise, Pretoria Capitals, has roped in the star wicketkeeper-batsman from England, Jordan Cox, for the SA20 2026 season. The pacer has been forced out of the whole tournament due to a knee injury and thus will be replaced by Cox in the Capitals’ lineup.

In the beginning, Cox represented Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the first edition of SA20, where he could only get 44 runs in 7 games at a poor strike rate of 100.

Delhi Capitals Might Snatch Jordan Cox in IPL 2026 Auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) teams along with their global T20 league engagements are recognized for their clever tactic of bringing in similar players as their squads. Once, in the past, we have witnessed the most victorious IPL sides such as Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) not only reinforcing but also bringing their stars—Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Faf du Plessis, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine—to the core.

Besides the upcoming season of the money-spinning league, DC might also walk the same path that leads to the acquisition of the dashing English batsman. Importantly, their International League T20 (ILT20) squad, Dubai Capitals, has also signed Cox as a replacement player for the 2025-26 season that begins on December 2.

On the other hand, after a fifth-place finish in IPL 2025, the franchise has let go of some of their important foreign players for the next season. The releases include vice-captain Du Plessis, Donovan Ferreira, Sediqullah Atal, and Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Top run getter in the Hundred league

The 25-year-old had put on a dazzling display in the latest season of The Hundred. The wicketkeeper batsman amassed 367 runs in nine innings with a strike rate of 173.93, including three fifties. His outstanding batting helped the Oval Invincibles to their third consecutive victory in the tournament.

The Delhi franchise could hold on to their main wicketkeeper KL Rahul, but still have the option of Abhishek Porel as a backup keeper. But the side requires a powerful overseas top-order batsman, especially after the departures of Du Plessis and Fraser-McGurk. The England player is, however, the perfect match for the role to fill and will be a part of the DC IPL 2026 squad.
