The retention lists of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the 2026 season were made public recently. The players who will be left out will be selected through the IPL 2026 mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Among the players released ahead of the auction was Ravi Bishnoi.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a shocking move by letting go of the Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who was one of their strengths for the IPL 2026 auction. Bishnoi, who has claimed more than 72 IPL wickets, is regarded as one of the most promising young spinners in the tournament.
After surprise LSG exit, multiple teams target Ravi Bishnoi
Lucknow Super Giants, after retaining Bishnoi for INR 11 crore last year, decided to release the young Indian leg-spinner after a disastrous 2025 season, where he could only pick 9 wickets in 11 games.
Still, the last season did not bring out the best in him, yet there are many teams who are already very much interested in him. Bishnoi’s skill, global exposure and the ability to handle middle overs still make him a priceless player.
Most of the franchises regard him as a long-term Indian spin solution; thus, he is going to create a lot of buzz at the mini-auction for IPL 2026.
Yuzvendra Chahal gives a big clue regarding Ravi Bishnoi’s IPL future.
On the contrary, a funny Instagram Live session between Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi has unexpectedly gone viral. During their humorous conversation, Chahal laid a bet on Bishnoi by playfully claiming that he could end up in the team of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the next IPL season.
Chahal announced during Arshdeep Singh’s Instagram Live that, “Bishnoi, mujhe feeling aa rhi hai tu Rajasthan jayega IPL mai.”
Bishnoi was in on the joke, as he giggled, and he would not go against Chahal’s feelings, thus adding to the speculation. He replied, “So we won’t go against your feeling.”
Chahal then jokingly said to Ravi that if he does not obey then he would only be playing domestic cricket like him, taking a humorous dig at himself. Supposedly, Chahal got the message quite clear and sent it to the Indian selectors by saying to Bishnoi, “Go man, otherwise you will be playing like me in domestic.”
The amusing back-and-forth conversation has now opened the floodgates for discussions on social platforms with people questioning if the Royals are really getting Bishnoi. The mini-auction for IPL 2026 is just around the corner and seeing Bishnoi as one of the most sought-after players already, this little joke has only increased the rumors.
Yuzvendra Chahal remains active in domestic cricket
To mention, the Indian leg-spinner is now with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and before that, he was in the team of Rajasthan Royals (RR). He had a fantastic time with the RR, yet he was not called up again to play for India. Earlier this year, he played his last match for India against England.
Chahal’s last season with the PBKS was great, as he took 16 wickets and was one of the reasons the team reached the finals. The leg-spinner, however, has been consistently overlooked but is still fighting.
The Haryana bowler has been putting in hours of practice in the domestic arena and playing whenever he can. He is now playing for Haryana in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
